I’M delighted to report that the jumble sale last Saturday in aid of St Peter’s Church raised more than £700, which is fantastic. Many thanks are due to Philippa Harpin for organising the event and to all the volunteers who made it possible by collecting jumble and helping on the day.

NOW that autumn is here and the trees are changing to such wonderful colours, you might like to enjoy the great outdoors with the Stocksfield Health Walks. The walks take about one hour, and the meeting point is Stocksfield Station car park at 10am on Mondays, where cars are shared if needed. On Monday, October 12, walk is in the area of Corbridge Mill. All you need to do is turn up at the station car park wearing appropriate outdoor clothing and supportive footwear. THERE is a table top sale tomorrow (Saturday, October 10), from 2pm until 4pm, in the Community Centre. If you have anything to sell and would like to book a table please contact Jean Robinson telephone (01661) 842115 or the office telephone (01661) 842346, today, (Friday, October 9). All proceeds will go towards the Community Centre kitchen refurbishment. There will be a table at the event for the Community Centre, and donations of new or nearly new items will be most welcome – toys, bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts, jewellery, books, small kitchen/dining ware should be brought along to the office today, (Friday, October 9). Admission fee to the event will include light refreshments, and children are free.

FLU clinics are being held at Branch End Surgery on Monday, October 12, and Monday, October 26, from 2pm until 5pm. These are walk-in clinics, so there’s no need to make an appointment.

THE Stocksfield Local History Society will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 14, at 7.30pm, in the Methodist Chapel in Mount View Terrace. This will be followed by a presentation on ‘The History of Stocksfield Community Association and Centre, 1902 to present. All welcome.

THE Stocksfield Retired Men’s Association will meet on Thursday, October 15, assembling for coffee as usual at the Baptist Church Hall from 9.30am. The speaker at 10.30am will be the Rev. Eric Lewis, and his subject is ‘Tea Boy to Tea Boy’. New members and visitors are always welcome.

DON’T forget that if you ever fancy a quiet cuppa or a friendly chat, Stocksfield Methodist Church is open for coffee every Monday, from 10am until 12.30pm. All are welcome.
