THE Three Inch Fools, a troupe of Shakespearean actors and folk musicians visited, Chipchase Castle on Saturday, August 8 to perform their new and fast-paced production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

A wonderful evening in the company of a young group of actors and musicians who brought to life Shakespeare’s play with the simplest of props in a wonderful location.

The almost 50 people who attended had a splendid evening, which was helped by warm, dry weather.

DUNKERS Macmillan coffee morning is in Barrasford Village Hall on Wednesday, September 9, from 10am until 11am, with a raffle and cake stall. All welcome.

BARRASFORD and Gunnerton Village Scarecrow Trail is on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.

Teas in Barrasford Village Hall from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Volunteers are needed to help with teas and cake donations. Please sign up at the village shop.

CHOLLERTON Women’s Institute will meet on Wednesday, September 2. Sheilagh Matheson will be speaking about her charity Widows in Kenya.

Sheila gave a very interesting and amusing talk on her beekeeping experiences last year and we look forward to hearing her again.

THE next Birtley coffee morning is on Thursday, September 3, from 10.30am until 1pm. Delicious coffee, home bakes and great conversation guaranteed.

BRENDA Swinton is organising a coffee morning on Saturday, September 12, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

It will be held at St Christopher’s Church, Gunnerton, from 10.30am until noon. Cake and produce stall. All welcome.

NORTHUMBERLAND Historic Chuches Trust’s ‘Ride and Stride’ annual steeplechase will take place on Saturday, September 12. This is an invitation to take part.

You may visit churches in Northumberland and Durham by any form of travel you wish and be sponsored for this!

A group of cyclists from Chollerton will be going out as usual and it is hoped that most of the churches in the deanery will be open.
