A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital on Tuesday after he was involved in a collision with a lorry near Simonburn.

Police say both vehicles were travelling on the B6320 near Keepershield Quarry when the crash happened just after 9am.

The biker was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary and officers say his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for two and half hours to allow officers to investigate the scene.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 230 of 02/08/16.
