THE NORTH Tyne Mountain Rescue Team is encouraging people to take part in their latest challenge.

The Mini Allendale Challenge may not be as gruelling as its bigger counterpart, but it is guaranteed to be just as fun.

Now in its third year, the event will take place on Sunday, June 5, and the North Tyne Mountain Rescue Team is calling on families to take on the seven-mile walk.

It starts at 10.30am, taking in the beautiful scenery from Ninebanks to Allendale.

The event is open for children between the ages of five and 15. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and dogs are not allowed.

The route will be marshalled by members of the rescue team giving words of encouragement and support.

The Mini Allendale Challenge is free, but people are asked to make a £2 donation to help cover costs.

People are asked to enter in advance and can do so by emailing minichallenge@gmail.com.

Participants will receive a badge and certificate when they complete the walk.
