A SCHEME to improve road signage in Catton is set to be rolled out before the end of March.

Local county councillor Colin Horncastle is spearheading a project which will see new gateway signs for the village. Other signs, warning motorists of the 30mph limit, are also set to be included.

And a section of the main road, near to the Crown Inn, is set to be resurfaced.

Speaking at a meeting of Allendale Parish Council, Coun. Horncastle said: “I‘ve spoken to Northumberland County Council about the proposals and hopefully it will be done by the end of March.”

Coun. Horncastle will use his county council member’s allowance to fund the scheme.

Parish councillors now have the option to apply for interactive speed signs for Catton.
