PATIENTS in Allendale and Haydon Bridge will no longer need to travel to hospital for routine ECG tests.
For thanks to a donation of £1,000 from the Whitfield Village Fair committee, Allendale Health Centre is planning to buy an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine which is used to assess heart function.
And the equipment will be available to all those registered with the Haydon Bridge and Allendale Medical Practice, which takes in the health centres in both villages.
Practice manager at Allendale Anne Grieve said: “The machine will save patients a trip to hospital and allows us to keep delivering essential services to rural communities.”
Secretary of the show committee Caroline Jordan said the fair, which took place on September 13, is just one of a number of fund-raising events which helps generate money to plough back into the local community.
