The grounds of Deneholme, the community-owned activity and conference centre, is popular with walkers and sightseers.
Now permissive routes within the grounds are being resurfaced, while new paths and a bridge through the woodland setting are being created.
The work is being carried out as part of the Allen Valleys Landscape Partnership Scheme, orchestrated by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Scheme manager Andy Lees, of the AONB, said: βItβs a beautiful setting here and this will really enhance the walking experience for people who visit.β
