TWO well-known buildings put on the market by Northumberland County Council have not yet been sold, the local authority has confirmed.

The former Allendale First School building, which closed in 2013, went up for sale early in January.

A county council spokesman said there had been a good level of interest in the building, part of which is Grade II listed, although it remains on the market.

Meanwhile, Haydon Bridge’s retained fire station closed in October, as part of a package of efficiency savings.

The county council has been in negotiations with a “preferred bidder” for the site for several weeks, a process which the authority said is still ongoing.
