THE Golden Lion’s kitchen will now be closed every Wednesday for the winter period.

WHATEVER you do, don’t miss Pikey Beatz and the Monster Ceilidh Band at Allendale Village Hall on Saturday, December 5, from 7.30pm. It’s billed as a “deep winter dance frenzy” and having seen both bands, I can assure you you’ll never keep your feet still!

Don’t expect a formal ceilidh though, but you will hear two fantastic bands who can headline festivals anywhere!

ST Cuthbert’s Church coffee morning is tomorrow (Saturday, November 28), when there’ll be some wooden toys for sale, as well as baking, books etc.

ON Sunday, November 29, it’s the Christingle service at St Cuthbert’s from 3pm and everyone’s welcome.

WHITFIELD Village Pantry Christmas fair is on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, from 11am until 5pm. There’s gifts, local crafts and refreshments served all day and all are welcome.

A CORRECTION: the creative writing group meets at the Forge Studios every second Thursday from 3pm and not on every third Thursday as previously advertised.

IT’S bingo time again at the High Forest Community Centre at Sinderhope tonight, at 7.30pm.

KEENLEY Methodist Chapel is holding its carol service on Sunday, December 6, at 2.30pm. It will be conducted by Mrs S. Martin, from Hexham, and tea will be served afterwards.

AN ALLENDALE based social enterprise is looking for a plot of land to buy or let, on which to create a therapy garden. Higher Ground aims to use horticulture and skills based workshops to help people recovering from mental health problems. IT’S good to see that some work has started on the North Pennines Community Observatory in Allenheads. The site is at the Old School House, home to Allenheads Contemporary Arts.

CATTON Village is raising funds for a defibrillator and the proceeds from the Catton Village Hall Christmas fair will go towards it. The fair is on Saturday, December 5, from 1pm and you’ll find all sorts of stalls and refreshments.
