COLIN Potsig is exhibiting the second in his Home series, Home Again, at the Forge Studios during May. He’s once again produced some extraordinary portraits of local faces. It’s open from 9am to 5pm.

DON’T miss out on the gardening soicety’s annual plant and craft fair at Allendale Village Hall on Saturday.

It opens at 9.30am, closing at 2.30pm, and along with a myriad of stalls covering horticulture, books and crafts, there’s a raffle in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance.

THE Allen Valley Folk Festival is really excited to announce the latest artist to be booked for this year’s festival, and it’s none other than Kathryn Tickell, Northumbrian legend and international festival headliner! And she’s pretty good on pipes and fiddle too!

ALLENDALE Lions Club has a few events coming up, starting on May 29, with the junior and senior karaoke finals in the Market Square.

There’ll be past winners and special guests too, along with bands to entertain you all afternoon. It kicks off at 1pm.

On June 4, 15 very large, extremely strong men will compete in a world qualifying event by lifting and carrying horrifyingly heavy and awkward things around the Market Square from 1pm.

There’s also a picnic planned to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on June 11, but more of that later.
