THE horticultural and industrial show is hosting bingo and a raffle at the King’s Head at 7.30pm tonight and everyone’s welcome.

THIS weekend’s a bit like a mini festival with Natural Ability’s ceilidh tonight and the double bill of Eabhal and Will Pound with Eddy Jay tomorrow!

It’s also the launch of this year’s Allen Valleys Folk Festival at the gig tomorrow when many of this year’s performers will be announced.

ON Easter Saturday, March 26, there’ll be a concert at Keenley Methodist Chapel featuring the Tanfield Lea Gospel Choir.

It starts as Mr N. Fullard of Corbridge takes the chair at 7.15pm and gift envelopes will be opened by Elsie Robinson from Hawksteel. Supper follows.

On the 27th, Easter Sunday, the service at 2.30pm will be conducted by Mr J. Bedigan from North Shields. All proceeds will go to chapel funds.

AS a start to the season, Allendale Tennis Club would like to invite both members and non members to participate in two sessions of free coaching.

These will be run by David Esther on March 30 and April 6 from 5pm till 7pm on the courts at Allen Mill and they’re open to both adults and children.

There’s a junior golf workshop on March 30 at Allendale Golf Club between 10am and noon and again, is open to members and non members alike.

All equipment for both the golf and the tennis can be provided.

YOU can go along to Allendale Village Hall on March 22 to hear two experts talk about how you can help with the plight of our vanishing hay meadows and rare plant grasslands.

From 7pm-8pm, Cath Shellswell will talk about meadow creation and, after a short break, Ruth Starr-Keddle will discuss upland hay meadow restoration. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please book at www.nwt.org.uk/whats-on
