CATTON WI is holding a coffee morning at Catton village hall on May 7 to raise funds for two planters with bee-friendly plants to be situated in the village.

Indeed, the event will have a bee theme, with Mandy Oliver from the North Pennines AONB nectar works project and members of the Hexham and Allendale beekeepers associations coming along.

There’ll be various bee-related stalls as well as coffee and cakes. Everyone’s welcome to “bee” there!

HERE’S early warning of a truly great gig coming up at Allendale village hall – the debut CD launch from the Newcastle-based Bottle Bank Band, a group of really talented fiddle players. It’s on June 17.

The golf course is hosting an “Introduction to Golf” for everyone over the age of 14.

Coached by the club professional, there’s three sessions of one hour on the May 18, 25 and June 1, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. For information, please call Valeria Dunn on (01434) 618741.

DUE to an unfortunate clash of dates, there won’t be a coffee morning at St Cuthbert’s this month.

ALLENDALE Methodist Church’s annual spring fair is on Saturday and will be opened at 2.30pm by Joyce Short.

There’ll be cakes, preserves, bric a brac and home made teas. Everyone’s welcome.
