The February meeting of the Dale Gardening Society, which includes a talk by Halls of Heddon, will be on February 17 and not the 24th as previously arranged.

It’s Allendale Methodist Church coffee morning tomorrow from 10am until 11.30am, with cakes and a produce stall. Everyone welcome.

The order deadline for oil co-op members is noon on February 9.

This year’s Allen Valleys Folk Festival dates are September 30 to October 2 inclusive, and there will be a programme launch on March 19 at St Cuthbert’s Church, featuring Will Pound and Eddy Jay.

Will, who opened our first festival and starred in the second, is an award-winning musician, described by BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe as “a flat out genius harmonica player”.

Eddy is a master of the accordion and can produce orchestral sounds with a touch of his fingers.

Together, it’ll be a show like no other! Tickets are available right now at the Co-op and the post office.

Please join your friends and neighbours at Arnison Close, Allendale, for coffee, biscuits and a raffle on February 12 from 10am until noon.

Money raised will go with students from Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham on their trip to the Tashi Llunpo monastery in India to help them continue their work caring for and educating orphans.

There will be a public meeting in Allendale Village Hall at 7.30pm on February 11 to discuss the future of Allendale Fair.

This annual event has been organised by Allendale Lions Club for the past 12 years and now is a good time to think about the future.

As well as listening to everyone’s views, there will be a conversation about what support the fair needs. So please come along – don’t be shy!
