A PETITION signed by several hundred people, supporting the need for a pedestrian crossing on Allendale’s main road, has been presented to our county councillor, Colin Horncastle.

There’s no doubt that the main road is a wide and difficult obstacle, particularly for those with limited mobility. Let’s see what happens.

THE best children’s project in the Love Northumberland awards was the primary school’s Allendale Village Trail.

It was supported by both the parish council and the Allen Valleys Landscape Partnership and should be in print and available from January 2016. Very well done!

EVERYONE at Arnison Close would like to say a big thank you to all who supported their coffee morning on Friday, September 25. It raised a superb £230 for Macmillan!

IT’S Allendale Methodist Church’s coffee morning tomorrow from 10am. There will be cake and preserve stalls and everyone is welcome.

ALLENDALE Horticultural and Industrial Show’s prize bingo and raffle is on Friday, October 9, in the King’s Head, from 7.30pm.

WENDY and Graham Pearson at the Allendale Tea Rooms are taking their well-deserved annual holiday from Sunday, October, 4. The tea rooms will reopen on Tuesday, October 13.

BY the time you read this, the Allen Valleys Folk Festival may have started!

It may still be possible for you to buy tickets on the door for the various performances at the village hall, St Cuthbert’s Church or the primary school, etc. Let’s hope it’s as much of a success as last year!

There’s also folk and country music at the Golden Lion today and tomorrow, featuring the Kentucky Cowtippers and Kathryn Stewart and the Frequent Fliers.

FOR inclusion here, please contact me by Sunday tea time at glynngalley@gmail. com or drop a note into Crosskeys on Shield Street.
