FIRST of all, a very big thank you to Allendale Lions club for providing us, once again, with a fantastic bonfire and fireworks display!

There’s no cooking involved and a robot dish washer is already in place! Pop in on a Thursday morning or telephone Val (01434) 683735 to volunteer.

THERE’S a mini market at Allendale Village Hall tomorrow. There are already quite a few stalls, but if you bake, make or grow, why not book a stall to sell your produce?

Telephone Pauline Robson on (01434) 683484 for details.

IT’S the 22nd Angus Tait Memorial Hexhamshire Hobble fell race on Sunday, December 6, which is run over a 10.5mile course with a 1,250 ft ascent. Easy! Registration is at 11am at Allendale Primary School sports hall.

ALLENDALE Parish Council was disappointed to hear about the closure of the public conveniences in both Allendale and Allenheads, despite a plea for time to consider the options, and the lack of consultation on this matter.

Apparently, the toilets will reopen next spring, but concern was expressed about the New Year celebrations which attract many visitors who will doubtlessly need such facilities.
