TYNEDALE’S Roman costume-clad historian Kevin Robson has narrowly missed out on a national tourism award.

The Haydon Bridge man, who set up his history tours venture Wild Dog Outdoors four years ago, was shortlisted for Visit England’s Tourism Superstar 2017 awards.

The winners have now been revealed following an online vote, and while Kevin did not make the top three, he was delighted to be named among the 12 finalists.

The 38-year-old, who was the only nominee from Northumberland, said: “I didn’t win, but there are so many positives to take from this.

“To be named among the national finalists is a tremendous honour, and hopefully the publicity has done some good for tourism in Tynedale.”

Kevin runs Wild Dog Outdoors with his wife, Sara. The venture hosts tours on Hadrian’s Wall, castles and other historic landmarks, and runs educational workshops providing adults and children with a stimulating experience of different periods in British history.
