Placed on Hadrian’s Wall in the stunning Northumberland countryside, Walwick Hall is a brand new, independent hotel which aims to offer luxury alongside country living.

Due to open later this summer, Walwick Hall is currently looking for all manner of staff to join their team - and has already attracted top talent in head chef Steven Murray.

The appointment marks a return to the area for Steven, who previously ran the Queen’s Head Inn in Great Whittington with his wife Claire, before being headhunted in 2010, and made executive chef of the five-star hotel Rocpool Reserve in Inverness.

He went on to become the executive chef for three other top restaurants in Aberdeen, before finally being brought back to the area by Walwick Hall.

“It was always a plan to move back at some stage” said Steven. “We love this part of the world as the Tyne Valley is where my wife Claire and I met working together at Slaley Hall back in 1999.”

Creating over 35 jobs in the area, Walwick Hall Hotel is a grade 2 listed building which has undergone an 18 month, multi-million pound renovation.

The hotel features ten luxurious, individually designed bedrooms with views over the open countryside, an intimate spa pool, and even a state of the art gym which is built into the hill.

The restaurant - which will be serving afternoon teas and offering high end dining - promises to use quality, local ingredients, delivered in a non pretentious way.

Steven says he is looking forward to “the challenge of bringing something new and exciting to the area, and producing wonderful food from the local Northumbrian larder again.”

The hotel is also looking for more people to complete their team, including kitchen crew, who Steven hopes will be: “hardworking, loyal, tenacious, team members who will bring ideas. Chefs who have flair and want to continually learn and grow their cooking skills”

General manager Rachel Batson said: "We're thrilled Steven has joined the hotel team and will be bringing his talent and experience to the table"

"And that's just the start - we're still looking for talented new staff across a range of positions. If you want to develop your skills and be part of an exciting new venture, please join us on our recruitment open day on August 25."

If you have experience in the sector, or are looking for a role with Walwick Hall Hotel, you can visit their recruitment open evening on Thursday 25th August between 4pm - 8pm.
