A TANKER has overturned and fallen 30ft down an embankment near Fourstones.
Police were called at just after 8.30am on Monday to reports that the vehicle, carrying heating oil, had overturned between Fourstones and Warden while travelling towards Hexham.
The driver was shaken and suffered minor injuries.
A Northumbria Police said: "It will take several hours today to decant the fuel from the vehicle, and the road will be closed all day while the oil is removed and after that the HGV will then be recovered."
The village is currently not accessible from the A69 with police road closure signs near the Boatside Inn at Warden.
Traffic is being diverted on to the Military Road via Chollerford.
