TEN Tynedale schools are pushing ahead with plans to form a three-tier multi-academy trust.

Leaders at the schools involved in forming the Tynedale Community Learning Trust confirmed they would be submitting an application to convert to academy status to the Department for Education.

The decision comes after senior teachers and governors at Prudhoe Community High School, Prudhoe Castle First School, Whittonstall First School, Broomley First School, Wylam First School, Ovingham First School, Ovingham Middle School, Mickley First School, Highfield Middle School, and Corbridge Middle School, met to consider responses received during a six-week consultation.

Representatives of the trust said 121 sessions were organised with stakeholders across all of the schools, with a full report on the consultation feedback presented to a combined meeting of governing bodies on July 17.

Meanwhile, the Hadrian Learning Trust’s consultation on closing Hexham Middle School and converting Queen Elizabeth High School to a secondary school closed on Friday.
