AFTER 17 years stationed in Bergen, north Germany, the third Regiment Royal Horse Artillery is coming to Tynedale.
The regiment will start transferring to Albemarle Barracks near Stamfordham, on July 13.
It will replace the 39 Regiment Royal Artillery, the Welsh Gunners, who were stationed there for 20 years.
Commanding officer Lt Colonel Matthew Murphy said: "I anticipate that we have the best barracks in the UK, with ranges of various natures close to our barracks and a really positive civilian community welcoming us.
“We are looking forward to the beaches, hills, pubs and Northumberland life that life in our new barracks will offer.”
