YOUNG bookworms at a Tynedale primary school are broadening their literary knowledge as part of a reading project.
Pupils at Henshaw Primary School received £250 worth of books from publisher Usborne after taking part in sponsored activities.
The books cover a range of topics from baking and gardening, to dinosaurs and the story of planet earth.
The project was organised by Tynedale-based Lisa Farrelly, who promotes the use of children’s books by the firm, Usborne.
Lisa was impressed by the efforts of Henshaw pupils, who took part in sponsored reading and listening activities to raise the £250.
They all received certificates, while Lisa rewarded them by supplying a further £75 worth of books.
She said: “The children have done very well I hope they enjoy reading and learning from these wonderful books.”
Lisa said Usborne offers thousands of titles for children, which entertain and educate at the same time.
