PUB chain Enterprise Inns has washed its hands of Haydon Bridge‘s troubled Railway Hotel – which closed its doors on Wednesday.

The historic pub, which has welcomed new tenants seven times over the past 12 years, is set to be sold at a public auction at Leeds United’s Elland Road football stadium on July 14.

A spokesman for Enterprise Inns said: ”As part of our on-going business, we do from time to time identify a pub that may no longer have a long-term future in our estate.

“After careful consideration, the decision has been made to sell the freehold of the Railway Hotel, with no restrictions on future use by public auction.”
