WORLD famous musical acts Pet Shop Boys and The Libertines are heading to the Tyne Valley.

They have been named as the headline acts at Northumberland's newest music festival, Festival on the Wall, which will take place at Northside Farm, in Horsley, on August 4 and 6.

The Pet Shop Boys, famed for hits such as Go West and We st End Girls , will be the main stage act on the Friday evening with North Shields-born lead vocalist Neil Tennant treating it as a homecoming gig.

The Libertines, with hits such as Don't Look Back into the Sun, have gained a huge, cult following with Hexham-born Pete Doherty and Carl Barat known for both their on and off stage antics.

Other confirmed artists playing over the weekend include Mark Ronson, Twin Atlantic, JP Cooper, MNEK, The Sherlocks, Calum Scott and North-East rockers Maximo Park, with more acts to be announced.
