MINI cops in Tynedale have carried out their first investigation with a visit to Hexham Police Station.

Year 4 and 5 pupils at Newbrough C of E Primary School became Northumbria Police’s youngest recruits last month, when they signed up to the force’s Mini Police scheme.

The initiative enables children to find out more about the role of policing in communities.

Three Year 5 pupils from Newbrough school, Katy Scott, and Holly and Becky Bell, visited Hexham Police Station two weeks ago – arriving in a police van.
