CORBRIDGE based Northumberland Tea, supported by World Cup Winner Jack Charlton, has just announced a deal to supply its product in 25 Asda stores.

Jack’s smiling face appears on the side of every tea box with the light hearted slogan ‘the best cup

since 1966’.

Bill and Helen Logan, the company’s founders, said: ‘‘Having our tea stocked in Asda is just

the icing on the cake, we’ve been working very hard to secure the deal.

“Working with Asda will be a huge boost to our business.”

Northumberland Tea, who already supply 170 independent retailers and other supermarkets,

donate money from every box sold to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Both of Helen’s parents died from Cancer and both Bill and Helen wanted to give something back after the support of the foundation during Helen’s dad’s treatment.

Helen said: “The care and support my dad received at the Freeman hospital during his treatment

was outstanding, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is really changing the way people with Cancer are

cared for, the work that Sir Bobby started to find better ways to detect and treat cancer and what

Lady Elsie and the Foundation are doing now is truly inspiring.’’

Roshani De Zoysa, Asda’s local ambient buying manager for England and Wales, said: “We’re

committed to supporting local suppliers and helping them grow their businesses.

”Customers will not only get the chance to enjoy delicious tea, but they will also be helping those with cancer, as a donation from the sale of every product is made to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.”

Such is the support for the foundation Bill and Helen have arranged for their tea to be stocked in Asda’s Ipswich store where Sir Bobby managed the town’s football team from 1969 to 1982.
