Keynote speaker Laura Pidcock provided analysis on why Brexit happened.
She pointed to the poor quality of both sides’ campaigns and decried the fact that Brexit campaigners used the campaign to stir up fear.
She suggested the failure to engage in political education in schools meant people were not equipped or prepared to deal with the complexity of the issues raised.
Finally, she tackled the issue of whether Jeremy Corbyn should take responsibility for the failure of the Remain camp.
She argued the issue was a media failure to report fully and fairly the actions of Corbyn. Following Laura’s speech, there were 90 minutes of discussion.
The majority of those present saw Corbyn as the best person to lead the Labour Party.
