A SECTION of the Military Road in Tynedale has been closed due to the strong winds.
Northumberland County Council issued an alert to say the B6318, between the junction with the A68 at Stagshaw and the Brunton Crossroads at Chollerford, will be closed until further notice following fears the winds may bring down trees along the route.
A diversion has been set up to take drivers along the A68 to Colwell Five Lane Ends and back on to the Military Road via the A6079 through Chollerton.
The closure is expected to be in place until Friday, November 13 and comes as the Met Office issued a yellow warning for the North-East, urging motorists to be aware of strong winds over the next five days, with gusts expected to reach up to 70mph in places.
