HEXHAM’S MP Guy Opperman is pushing for two new speed cameras to be installed on the A69.

He is calling for road safety improvements on trunk road following the deaths of two women in a horrific crash at Melkridge, three weeks ago.

He said: “My strong expectation is that we will have cameras at both ends of that stretch in April 2017.

“We also have to make the case for for a 40mph speed limit there.”

Parish councillors hosted a joint meeting in Bardon Mill on Wednesday, where calls were made for a review of the road layout.
