The painter and decorator won the Haydonian Social Club Leek Show with a stand of 369 cu ins.
Afterwards, a beaming Gary dedicated his latest success to his father Tommy, himself a dedicated grower, from whom Gary has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years.
Gary, who also came second in the pot leeks category, with 198 cu ins, topped off a memorable night by lifting the prize for most points in the flower section.
Second in the blanch leeks category was
Ernie Edwards with 201 cu ins; while Michael Ridley won the pot leeks category, with 192 cu ins.
Winner of the most points in the vegetable section was Brian Burrows.
