The ‘Sycamore Gap’ tree on Hadrian’s Wall near Bardon Mill is one of just 12 shortlisted for the European Tree of the Year crown.
Voting for the competition, organised by the Environmental Partnership Association, got under way on February 1, and closes next Tuesday.
The sycamore was put forward for the European award after it was named England’s tree of the year in December.
