NEXT week is half term and the Bridge Library is having an Elmer the elephant-themed craft event for younger children.

If your child is aged between two and eight, this could be just the thing to keep them entertained for an hour between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Please contact the library for more details or to book a place. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ON Tuesday, there will be another meeting in the community centre from 7pm to finalise arrangements for the street party on June 12.

Please come along if you are interested in helping out on the day. The street party will be held between 1.30pm and 5pm. Participants are asked to bring a plate of food, sweet and savoury.

Drinks will be provided, as will crisps. All food will be collected in the Methodist Church and brought out to the tables when needed.

JUNE is going to be a busy month, with the Haydon Hundred taking place on Saturday, June 4, and the Queen’s birthday celebrations over the following weekend.

ON Friday, June 10, there will be a folk night at Haydon Old Church at 7.30pm. This is a ticketed event, as numbers are restricted. Tickets are free and will be available from St Cuthbert’s Church or Claire’s newsagents. Refreshments will be available.

ON the afternoon of Saturday, June 11, there will be a fair at St. Cuthbert’s from 2pm.

This will include the pop-up cafe, a cake stall, produce, books and CDs, bric-à-brac, raffle and tombola.

If you have items that you would like to donate to any of the stalls, especially the tombola, raffle, cakes, produce or books, the church will be open between 3pm and 5pm, Monday to Friday, the week beginning June 6, for items to be dropped off.
