JOHN Harrison will be quiz master at the General Havelock on Tuesday 19th from 8.15pm. The health centre will be this month's beneficiary with the money going towards a diagnostic camera. Donations of raffle prizes would be gratefully received.

SATURDAY sees the start of the summer reading challenge at the Bridge lbrary. This year's challenge takes the theme of The Big Friendly Read based on Roald Dahl's The Big Friendly Giant . The challenge is open to children aged four to 12. The library will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday.

TO help celebrate the end of another school year the Get It Together Society has once again organised a picnic in the walled garden at Shaftoe Primary School on Saturday, July 23, between 1pm and 3.30pm. Music and games are provided. All you have to do is bring your own picnic and something to sit on. This has been a very successful event for the past two years so let's keep fingers crossed that the sun shines and the rain holds off.

ON July 25, the first of the summer craft sessions takes place at the Bridge library. It will be suitable for youngsters from four to 12. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult. The session will run from 10.30am to 11.30am.

THE next parish council meeting will tale place in the community centre on Thursday, July 28, from 7.30pm.

THE Waitress will be the film featuring in the film and food night at the General Havelock on Tuesday, July 26.

SUNDAY'S morning service at the Methodist church takes place at the usual time of 10am. Then at 6pm everyone, is invited to Trinity Methodist church, in Hexham, for a for a special farewell service for Tom Quenet and the Rev. Marion Olson.
