CHRISTMAS is fast approaching and Shaftoe Trust Primary School will be getting into the spirit of things with its Christmas fayre today, (Friday November 27), from 3.15pm until 5pm.

Lots of stalls to keep the little ones entertained. Everyone welcome.

ON Sunday, November 29, at 3pm, evensong and carols will take place at Haydon Old Church.

All welcome to come along – please note, there will be no evening service at the Methodist church on Sunday.

THURSDAY, December 3, is film night at the General Havelock with Jimmy Stewart in It’s a Wonderful Life. This Classic Christmas film starts at 7.15pm. Please book a place by calling (01434) 684376. Booking is not totally necessary, but it does help Jo and Gary with numbers.

JOYCE will be your quiz master on Friday, December 4, at the Haydonian Social Club from 8.30pm.

Everyone welcome; go with a team, or join someone else’s on the night.

ON Saturday, December 5, at 2pm, the Methodist church Christmas fair takes place. All the usual stalls including cakes, Christmas stall, candles, activities for the children – plus there will be a special visit from Santa. Teas and coffee will also be available. All very welcome.

THERE will be a Christmas puppet show with the Bell family on Sunday, December 6, at 2.30pm in Methodist church. The puppet show (40 minutes or so in duration), will run prior to the lighting of the village Christmas trees at 4pm.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the show, after which refreshments will be served and admission will be free to all.

THE tree lighting ceremony will start at 4pm on the south side of the old bridge, on Sunday, December 6, then you’re in invited to cross over the bridge on to Church Street for singing, refreshments and a chance to see Santa. Look out for a pop-up cafe at St Cuthbert’s Church.

THE Get It Together Society will be meeting in the General Havelock on Monday, December 7, at 7.45pm, for its annual general meeting. Non-members are welcome to attend, especially if you would be able to help out on New Year’s Eve with marshalling at the ends of the Old Bridge.
