THE very talented Bell family will be putting on a puppet show at the Methodist Church on Monday, August 24, from 2.30pm.

The show is suitable for all ages and entry is free. Light refreshments will also be served.

ON Wednesday, August 26, at 2pm, some of the Methodist Church members and friends are planning a trip to Haydon View Residential Home to sing for the elderly living there.

Please meet at the chapel at 1.45pm or at the home just before 2pm.

THE bank holiday weekend is looming so here are a couple of things going on over that weekend.

The annual fruit and veg show will take place at the General Havelock on Saturday, August 29.

Produce can be on display from 10am, judging at 1pm and viewing at 2pm.

Exhibits may be: six cherry tomatoes on the vine, four standard tomatoes, collection of three veg, a vase of flowers, display of flowers plus many others including cakes and preserves.

This will be followed by live music from Kevin Roberts at 9pm, with an auction of the produce at 10pm and proceeds going to the Great North Air Ambulance.

THE duck race will take place on Sunday, August 30 at 2pm, over by the Anchor Hotel.

Ducks need to be sponsored and this year’s proceeds will go to the cricket club and playgroup.

Children will be entertained in the Anchor with music from 4pm until 6pm, then The Promise will be singing for the adults after 8pm.
