It was a historic day for Prudhoe Community High School, as walking into their new building for the first time students celebrated the best results in the school’s history.
The youngsters achieved a 75 per cent pass rate in the Government’s new basic measure of combined English and maths results, a significant improvement on last year.
Over 80 per cent of the school’s year-11 students achieved A*-C grades in both English and maths.
It was a day of celebration for Ponteland High School as well, as it recorded its best ever GCSE results.
A total of 76 per cent of year-11 students received a grade C or higher in the combined English and maths results.
And 81 per cent of students achieved A*-C grades in English and 86 per cent earned A*-C grades in maths.
There was also an increase in those achieving five A*-C grades, including English and maths at Haydon Bridge High School.
An impressive 80 per cent of those studying childcare at the school achieved A* grades.
Once again over 80 per cent of GCSE students at Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School achieved A*-C grades in English and maths.
And over 50 pupils excelled in their exams this year, achieving eight or more A* or A grades.
