THE road through Fourstones has re-opened after a tanker fell 30ft down an embankment.
Police were called at just after 8.30am on Monday to reports that the vehicle, carrying heating oil, had overturned between Fourstones and Warden while travelling towards Hexham.
The driver was shaken and suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed and traffic diverted on to the Military Road, via Chollerford, to allow for the fuel to be decanted from the vehicle.
Officers say the road re-opened at around 4.30pm, but is expected to close again at 10am on Tuesday to allow for the tanker to be recovered.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 140 of 13/02/17.
