A FIRE caused damage to a Ponteland curry house yesterday.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at Ponteland Tandoori at around 4.45pm on Tuesday.

Three fire engines, from West Hartford and Tyne and Wear rushed to the blaze on Main Street.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to fight the fire and two hose reels were used to extinguish it.

An ambulance arrived at the scene as a precautionary measure, fortunately no-one was injured in the fire.

The extent of the damage caused to Ponteland Tandoori is not yet clear.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is investigating the fire, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
