POLICE are appealing for information after a crash involving a car and a van near Haydon Bridge.

Officers say it happened at around 4.30am on Saturday, April 2, when an Astra and a VW Caddy van collided on the A69, west of the village.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital for treatment. They are believed to have suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

The A69 was closed for several hours to allow for investigations to be carried out.

Officers believe an HGV was in the area at the time of the collision and are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle as they may have vital information which could help.
