THE A69 was closed in both directions for six hours following a crash on Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the trunk road at Coastley, two miles west of Hexham, at shortly after 7am.
The crash on the eastbound carriageway involved an HGV and three other vehicles.
The road was closed in both directions as a result of a fuel spillage at the scene.
Traffic was diverted via the Acomb road ends to the Military Road, and also via Lowgate.
The road re-opened in both directions at shortly after 1pm.
Police said one person had been taken to hospital, but it's not believed anyone involved suffered serious of life-threatening injuries.
