Allendale Parish Council wrote to the local authority last month, seeking information about the future direction about the troubled school.
But at a meeting of the parish council meeting on February 2, members said they had received an “unacceptable” response from the authority.
Speaking after the meeting, Coun. Glynn Galley said: “The county council said it had no information, but identified other sources where we could find information.
“We expressed astonishment at this unacceptable response.
“The local authority should be seeking answers itself and informing us, not telling us to go elsewhere.”
A spokesman for the authority said: “We are still waiting for an update from the Regional Schools Commissioner on an end date for academisation, so that we can update everyone and inform parents staff and pupils about the future.
“Delivering the best possible education is a priority for us.
“We are working closely with the school to do everything we can and continue to provide support and advice.”
