Haydon Bridge Then & Now offers a fascinating insight into the village’s history.
For the second year running, community group the Friends of Haydon Bridge has teamed up with local photographers to re-shoot images from the village’s archives.
The front cover shows how little the old church at Haydon has changed since 1908.
Turn over into January, however, and contrasting images show how the village’s eastern gateway has evolved since horses and carts were the primary mode of transport a century ago.
But look carefully, and the farm buildings at Low Hall can be seen in both images, along with the iconic St Cuthbert’s Church tower.
Haydon Bridge historian Dennis Telford selected the old images, and took some of the new ones, alongside fellow local photographers John Gibson and Ian Foster.
The calendars are now available to buy from Claire’s Newsagents on Church Street. Money raised will support various activity groups in the village.
