TEENAGE bus passengers in Tynedale will receive the same discount on services provided by three different operators.

Go North East, Stagecoach and Arriva have joined forces to introduce a new scheme, which was rolled out on September 4.

Previously, the eligibility for young persons’ discounts had varied widely between the bus companies.

The new scheme was introduced after the North East Combined Authority worked with bus operators to offer simpler fares and good value travel for young people who rely on public transport for school, college, and leisure activities.

It means a £1 single fare will be available for people under the age of 19 on buses provided by all three operators.
