A BODY has been found on Tyne Green in Hexham this morning.
Police tape has been thrown up on a section of the Tynedale Golf Club course after the body was found on the banks of the burn which runs near the club house.
Officers say there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and the body is thought to be that of a woman.
Although details surrounding the death have yet to be confirmed, West Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said there was no link to the ongoing search for missing Ponteland woman, Sally Allan.
Mrs Allan left her home in the early hours of Boxing Day morning and was last seen on CCTV footage on the Newcastle Quayside at 6.10am. Specialist officers from the marine unit are now supporting this investigation.
