A CHRISTMAS tree destined to be one of the most photographed in the world has started its journey from Kielder.

For the past 14 years, the Forestry Commission workers of Kielder have provided London’s Houses of Parliament with their spectacular tree, positioned at the base of Big Ben for all the world to see.

The specimen was cut down this week and yesterday embarked on its journey to Westminster on the back of a huge truck bound for the capital.

This year the cutting down of the Kielder tree will be shown as part of a feature on BBC TV’s The One Show .

Kielder provides some of the UK’s biggest Christmas trees and many have already been transported across the country to take pride of place in towns and cities from Kings Lynn to Worcester and Manchester to Kingston on Thames.
