THE annual church coffee morning held at the Methodist Church Hall in Haltwhistle last Saturday raised just over £800, and this should rise to £900 once gift aid has been claimed.

Many thanks to all who contributed items for sale and to those who helped to set up, serve and clear away.

MY apologies for last week’s misinformation on the whereabouts of many of Bardon Mill Women’s Institute members.

No, they were not at the Bowes Museum in Durham, instead they were at Denman College in Oxfordshire – the Women’s Institute residential college – taking a variety of the useful and informative courses provided by the college.

Thank you to all of you who reminded me of this.

THE organ at Beltingham church has recently been splendidly restored.

During the time the work was going on, the chairs in the church were stored and the church mice took the opportunity to feast on the seat coverings of three of them.

Phillipa Collingwood has now beautifully restored the chairs and, hopefully, the plump mice have once again hidden themselves away whilst they slim down to their more traditional proportions.

SCHOOL pupils are now more than halfway through their summer holiday

Are you running out of ideas for what to do with them?

Well, Bakerbe is holding creative cookery workshops in the village hall on Wednesday, August 26, Thursday, August 27, and Friday, August 28.

IN June next year, the Queen reaches her 90th birthday. In many parts of the country there are plans to celebrate this special birthday of our longest-reigning monarch.

Pam Robbie is willing to oversee any village celebration, but she will need lots of help in getting it organised.

Do telephone Pam on (01434) 344039 if you have ideas and/or would like to be involved in the preparations and organisation of this very special occasion.
