FROM Tynedale's rolling hills to city life in Australia - images of scenes from around the world were on show in Haydon Bridge last week.

Visitors to the annual Haydon Local Artists' Exhibition were treated to a vast array of artwork.

The week-long exhibition, which ended on Saturday attracted no fewer than 200 exhibits from locally based artists at the community centre.

And there was something for everyone, with watercolour, pastel and acrylic pieces alongside drawings, sculpture and photography.

Winners were selected in three separate categories; a public vote for adults; a children's choice; and the vote of committee members who took on the role of judges.

Adult public vote winner was John Nattrass with Suffolk Punches; second was Robert Higgins with Salzburg by Night; while Victoria Holt was third with her portrait of a woman in a mohair jumper.

Children's choice winner was Maria Cooper with her portrait of a pug; second was Helen Brooks with her sketch of a leopard; while John Nattrass was third with Snowy Owl.

Victoria Holt was the judges winner; with Sue Higgins in second place with Coniston Water, and Anne Collier in third with Aydon Road.

Haydon Local Artists' Barbara Wardle said: "It has been another good year for the exhibition. We have had a lot of people through the door and they were very impressed with the eclectic mix of artwork on display."

Once again, there were a lot of impressive entries from youngsters at Haydon Bridge's Shaftoe Trust Primary School.
