POLICE say the A69 has reopened after a serious crash closed the eastbound carriageway.
Emergency services are believed to have been called to the stretch of the road between Hexham and the Stagshaw, near Corbridge, in the early hours of this morning after receiving reports of a one-vehicle crash.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear but motor patrols officers have been at the scene for several hours carrying out crash investigation work.
Traffic using the stretch of the A69 has been delayed with vehicles redirected along a six-mile diversion via Acomb and the Military Road.
