IF you are visiting Hexham this weekend or any day this year, here are some of the places you can park for free - with a parking disc.
Tourists can purchase discs at several businesses around Hexham including many close to the carparks.
Wentworth Carpark
If you want to park at Wentworth, you can park in a red bay for two hours, blue for four or white for all day. To park in a red or blue bay, you must purchase a disc from either Wentworth Leisure Centre or Waitrose. Whereas for the white bay - you do not need one.
If the white bays are filled up at Wentworth - there are 250 spaces at the new Alemouth car park near Travelodge which also do not need a disc.
Market square
If you want to park in the town centre next to Hexham Abbey, you will need to be aware that there is a time limit of one hour and the use of a disc.
Discs can be bought from businesses such as the Abbey cafe, Paxton Fish Shop and other businesses around the town.
Parking near Sele park on Beaumont Street
If you want to park near Sele Park and next to the Abbey, you will need to be aware that there is a time limit of two hours and the use of a disc.

Tesco and Homebase
These carparks are free to use but are for generally for customers only. They do not require parking discs.
Hexham Train Station
Hexham Train station does not need a parking disc but there is a pay machine.
Maiden's Walk
This site does not need a parking disc but there is a pay machine.
