MORE flights have been added to get residents of the north-east to the sunshine quicker.

EasyJet has relaunched flights to Alicante, Spain, from Newcastle International Airport and will now operate a twice-weekly service to Alicante throughout the summer on Tuesdays and Saturdays until the end of October.

These new flights are in addition to the recent announcement that the company will relaunch its route from Newcastle to Amsterdam, with flights taking off from September 5 2024 and operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays throughout the year.

Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development said: “I’m delighted to see easyJet begin operating flights to Alicante from Newcastle International Airport, providing passengers with even more choice to one of our most popular destinations.

“Alicante offers something for everyone, from miles of clean, sandy Mediterranean beaches to local historic landmarks and Alicante’s Old Town district – you certainly won’t be bored on a visit to this Spanish gem.”
