Children in Northumberland will receive the 'best possible' education after large grant.

Northumberland County Council is set to receive over £4 million from the UK government to ensure children with special educational needs and disabilities receive the best possible education for years to come.

The funding comes as part of the latest £850 million package across SEND schools in England, to create over 60,000 more special needs places.

One of the local schools in the area who will be benefiting from the grant will be Hexham Priory School who is going from 'strength to strength' after recently receiving an Outstanding in their recent Ofsted report.

County Cllr Gordon Stewart who represents Prudhoe South said: "I welcome this massive investment, the case for this additional funding has been well researched and will provide a huge benefit to families and Schools throughout the County, as a School Governor over many years including currently one within a special School which has a base within Prudhoe I have an understanding of how this boost will greatly improve the service."
